Does a concave or a convex mirror have a focal point?

[ 2 Comments ] Posted on 04.01.09 under Focal Point

I’m curious.. Does a concave or convex mirror have a focal point? And if it does, are there 1 or 2?

Also, is the image of a distant object formed by a concave or a convex mirror real or virtual?

Is it possible to form both real and virtual images using a concave or a convex mirror?

Please explain!!

Each has one focal point (in short called as focus).
Image formed by convex mirror is always virtual.

With concave mirror, you can have both real and virtual images. If the object is between the mirror and the mirror’s focus, then the image is virtual. If the object is beyond the mirror’s focus, then the image is real.

Does every amazing photograph require a focal point?

sometimes I see a great photograph and try and determine the focal point. Could it be that the entire image is the focal point? I was just curious since it was something I read about composition that when taking pictures, you should have a focal point. Thanks.
sorry, maybe require isn't the word i was looking for….contain one, or have one might be a better word. thanks.

Personally I believe that the gift of being an artist is being able to learn the rules then learn how to break them!
