I can not take Aleve or Advil and I am trying to figure out the maximum amount of aspirin and/or tylenol I can safely take for a painful flare-up of joint and bone pain. Can they be taken together? If so, at what optimal dose of each combined would relieve me of this pain? I can not take narcotics either. What about a prescription anti-inflammatory drug? I see an ortho surgeon today and I want to go with some ideas.
I cannot tell you what your optimum dose would be. But I will say that Tylenol is the greater of 2 evils here. The guidelines are general. There have been quite large deviations. But I still recommend taking as little as you need.
For Tylenol:
Taken acute: No more than 4000mg at a time
Taken chronic (everyday): No more than 2000mg per day.
For Aspirin, the toxic dose is on average
Acute: 150mg/kg bodyweight
Chronic: 100mg/kg
Talk to your surgeon about COX-inhibitors. They might be more beneficial for this sort of pain. But they too have side-effects and are not for everyone.

I hate vegetables and always have. I want to find a vitamin that will supply the daily fruits and vegetables that the USDA recommends.
This is one of the better ones if you must: http://www.vitaminworld.com/pages/file.asp?xs=6825261527ED48079FAAAE4993AD27B8&PID=745&CID=&CPID=96 because it uses freeze-dried concentrates of the actual vegetables.
Keep in mind that you're not getting the fiber and the anti-oxidants are typically damaged during processing. Also, Vitamin C will not tolerate processing.
I'm going to hope you like fruits…
Try drinking a can of V-8 juice each day. Also, consider purchasing canned carrot juice and using it in place of part of the water when cooking, you can even use it as liquid for cakes and brownies and you'll never know it's there!
Another idea is to buy baby food jars of strained sweet potatoes and mix them into muffins, pancake batter, etc for part of the water/liquid/puree in the recipe. Use it instead of applesauce in an applesauce cake recipe. It really only takes a small amount to give you what you need for the day.
Make sure you get enough fiber in your diet from other sources to protect against colon/rectal cancer and other ailments.
Eating things like pumpkin pie, sweet potato bread, carrot cake, will all punch up your vitamin A and beta carotene levels. Grate carrots and add them to spaghetti sauce, meat loaf and muffins. I've done this with my kids for years even though they like veggies now
Most Ragu pasta sauces now contain more than a serving of veggies in a 1/2 cup serving. Now that's a tasty way to get your veggies in!
Best to you…

I would like to know from the doctors community that if a normal adult (say a woman of over 40 yrs of age) can take a daily dose of vitamin B (a combination of B1, B6, B12 )without the prescription from the doctor. Is there any risk involved in indulging in such an act like any side effects on the body or the vital organs? What good can a combination of vitamin Bs does to ones body if taken regularly?
the B family of vitamins do us a real service, B6 is a powerful anti-oxidant, B12 helps our metabolic rate and increases our energy, and B1 aids in digestion. If she asked her doctor about it, he could give her some good ideas which doseages would be best for her.
Personally, I take 200mg of B6, and 500mg of B12. Oh, be sure that she is not trying to take B12 in pill form, stomach acids pretty much destroy B12, it needs to be taken in sublingual form (melt in your mouth) so it is absorbed directly into the blood stream thru the oral mucosa. Otherwise, you just waste money.
